Speaker identification system undergoes proof of concept test

Further to the successful demonstration of the SIIP system functioning in real-life conditions, INTERPOL published a press release on the SIIP Proof of Concept event held in Rome on 1 June 2016.
Tackling transnational crime and terrorism focus of INTERPOL meeting

INTERPOL presented the SIIP project, its activities and upcoming events at the 12th Heads of NCB Conference held in Lyon on 25-28 April 2016. This institutional event is attended by high-level law enforcement representatives from INTERPOL’s 190 member counties and constitutes an excellent platform for dissemination and raising awareness goals. This year, the conference focused on ways of tackling transnational crime and terrorism, and the event gathered some 260 police official representing 151 countries. For dissemination purposes, INTERPOL held a stand in the conference hall where SIIP project sheets and related material were distributed, the project website was displayed and questions of delegates were answered.
INTERPOL survey of the use of speaker identification by law enforcement agencies

Following the SIIP questionnaire which was circulated among the 190 National Central Bureaus (NCB) on the current practices and obstacles to the use of speaker identification technologies experienced by LEAs, INTERPOL prepared the survey paper “INTERPOL SURVEY OF THE USE OF SPEAKER IDENTIFICATION BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES” which was published in the Forensic Science International Journal on 1 April 2016.
Furthermore, a press release on the SIIP Survey results was published on the INTERPOL internal website accessed by all NCBs.
Speaker Identification Integrated Project: Proof-of-concept event
An informative note announcing the upcoming at-the-time SIIP Proof of Concept event was published in February 2016 on the INTERPOL external and internal websites for the information of all 190 member countries and of a wider audience with the aim to encourage relevant parties to register and attend the event.
Leveraging its valuable network of expertise, INTERPOL sent out informative letters on the status of the SIIP project, survey results and upcoming events to all the 190 NCBs in February 2016. Additionally, invitation letters for participation in the Proof of Concept event were extended to relevant stakeholders on behalf of the consortium partners.
European Association for Biometrics (EAB) organizes largest European research conference on 7-8 September 2015
7-8 September, 2015
On 7 and 8 September 2015 Europe’s largest conference on research in the area of Biometrics and Identity Management funded by the European Commission will take place at the premises of Fraunhofer IGD in Darmstadt, Germany. The second EAB Research Projects Conference 2015 will be co-located with the IEEE BIOSIG conference that will take place later that same week.

INTERPOL Communication department assisted with the preparation of SIIP project sheets in the four official languages (Arabic, English, French, Spanish) which are available for consultation for all 190 member countries on the INTERPOL internal website.
